The History Of The Westland International School
Established by a group of fully-experienced & truly-passionate teachers from a hard-time living background, WESTLAND was officially opened in 2011 starting off with Part-Time English Programs of 500 students from our previous center(1) and 20 full-time students in a building of 1760 sqm.
Three years after our official opening, WESTLAND successfully launched General English Programs (GEP) & Local K-12 Program and reached our full target in number of students. Apart from expanding our campus areas, in early 2014, the WESTLAND Board decided to make another investment by establishing the second campus to fulfill the increasing number of our students for the year of 2016.
In 2016, WESTLAND Second Campus was officially opened with the launch of International K-12 Programs adapting Math & Science from Singapore Curriculum & IPC from Fieldwork Education.
WESTLAND now has over 3,000 students in two main campuses with total size of 9060 sqm.
(1) WESTLAND was originally developed from re-selling of a small center (520 sqm) with only around 80 part-time students in 2002 by our first founder who was the undergraduate of Institute of Foreign Language (IFL). Three years after adjusting the English programs, human resources and center studying environment, the number of students started to increase to over 300 (a record breaking number for the previous founders of the center). Seeing this positive growth, in 2005, our founder approached many of his institute mates from Phnom Penh (capital city) to help develop his center to be more competitive and productive. As expected in 2007, with the assistance of his mates, his center successfully reached the full capacity over 500 students with hundreds still in the waiting list. Some of them suggested for another branch under the same banner. However, our founder decided not to open another branch, but kept focusing on developing quality education and standardizing our center management before taking another big leap. In 2008, our founder announced the most exciting news to his fellow institute mates and senior staff who have been loyal and struggling with him in these years of hard time. He decided to promote all of them to be co-founders of his new investment on his own location called WESTLAND INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL. "Education is not a Business for Earning, BUT it's a Business of Responsibility & Contribution for our Future Generation," WESTLAND Founder.
